Essential civic fire prevention rules, local burning ordinances, and safety guidance administered across Cityville by the FIRECO Command and Prevention Bureau.
Recreational fire pits and contained outdoor fireplaces are permitted within Cityville residential zones under strict safety conditions. Open burning of yard debris, construction refuse, and trash is strictly prohibited.
Key Regulatory Requirements
- Recreational fires must be housed in an approved chiminea, outdoor fireplace, or metal/masonry fire pit measuring no larger than 3 feet in diameter.
- A minimum clearance of 25 feet from any combustible structure, overhang, or exterior property line must be maintained at all times.
- Only clean, seasoned dry firewood or commercially approved charcoal may be burned. Treated lumber, leaves, and plastics are forbidden.
- A functioning garden hose or minimum 4-A rated fire extinguisher must be immediately accessible during operation.
- All outdoor fires must be fully extinguished prior to leaving the area unattended or when local sustained winds exceed 15 mph.
